Partner Spotlight: Trees for Tucson

Tucson summers are no joke. There’s a reason why people literally try to bake cookies in their cars. We’ll admit we love the rain storms, making the climb up to Mount Lemmon to beat the heat, and the entirely unique fresh smell of the summer desert. But those soaring temperatures that make “90 degrees in the shade” more than just a cliche saying? No, thanks.

One thing that can offset the brutal summers is a larger tree canopy. Which is why we’re proud to partner with Trees for Tucson

Remember that every time you fill up with Circle K Conserve you’re helping to invest in carbon reduction projects. These important efforts are designed to pull carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, positively impacting our local communities and communities across the world. That’s why we’re so pleased to be able to support organizations that share our mission and vision, like Trees for Tucson.

Trees for Tucson strives to:

“preserve and improve our environment, conserve natural resources, and enhance the quality of life in Tucson and eastern Pima country. These goals will be achieved through initiating educational and participatory programs implemented with broad-citizen, multi-culture support.”

Trees for Tucson is trying to increase the tree canopy in Tucson. It’s hard to believe, but shade trees can make a 15-20 degree difference in temperature. They also absorb CO2 and can save up to 20% in energy costs when fully mature. Planting and maintaining desert trees also prevents erosion and reduces runoff. Those storms we love? They’re a whole lot more loveable when they don’t wash away all the soil.

And the benefit of shade trees in Tucson is not limited to lowering the temperature and preserving the soil. Shade trees also provide a habitat for song birds and backyard pets. They add beauty to our neighborhoods. And the presence of trees is proven to reduce stress and anxiety. They can literally make you happier

Trees for Tucson offers low-cost trees for purchase, provides information about trees native to the area, and offers volunteer tree-planting opportunities. We couldn’t be happier to partner with an organization that shares our commitment to a healthier planet and stronger communities. When you fill up with Conserve, you’re helping to fulfill the missions of local volunteer projects and sponsorships in the communities where we live, work, and play.
