As you may know, the Conserve program makes it easy to reduce the impact of emissions by up to 30% just by pumping gas at Circle K. Every time you fill up, you’re helping to invest in carbon reduction projects designed to pull carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, impacting our local communities throughout the world.
But with Conserve, you’re also supporting local volunteer projects and sponsorships in the communities where we live, work and play. One of the ways we’re able to successfully fulfill our promise is by partnering with community organizations that share our commitment to a healthier planet.
This month, we’re spotlighting two of our partners in the Centennial State, also known as Colorado.
The mission of Groundwork Denver is to “bring about the sustained improvement of the physical environment and promote health and well-being through community-based partnerships and action.” To realize this objective, the folks at Groundwork Denver are doers, not talkers – and they take the work seriously.
Incorporated as a 501(c)3 in 2002, Groundwork Denver was created in response to a feasibility study by a steering committee made up of residents, non-profit leaders, and City agencies. The study found that Groundwork Denver could effectively engage residents in the planning process and work with them to implement tangible neighborhood-based projects that improve the urban environment. The organization’s expertise, program areas, and volunteer mobilization have expanded from the original feasibility study. They now meet the needs and requests of the community in a wide range of urban environmental and community development issues. Groundwork Denver partners with lower-income communities to improve the physical environment and promote health and well-being.
Groundwork Denver really does the work: planting trees, improving parks, cleaning up rivers and the air, insulating houses, promoting biking, growing food, and coordinating hundreds of volunteers to help. Conserve is thrilled to partner with them in their mission!
Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado
Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) has been operating successfully throughout Colorado since 1984. A trusted non-profit partner, VOC offers opportunities for the public to get involved in caring for the outdoors through volunteer project development, stewardship training and corporate volunteering.
VOC’s vision is to “foster within every Coloradan a passion for and commitment to caring for the outdoors.” Working in partnership with local, state and federal public land agencies, VOC organizes and manages a wide array of outdoor stewardship projects each year to engage a variety of audiences and address some of Colorado’s most critical stewardship needs. Conserve will partner with VOC to continue their vision and passions!
We’re proud to partner with the dedicated staff and volunteers of both of these respected organizations. Thank you for supporting them each time you choose Circle K!
